101/1001

From the Day Zero Project Website:

The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?
Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities. 

Here is my list so far, as you can see I don’t have 101 items on it yet, but there’s enough to get started with and I will continue to add new items as and when I think of them. The date by which I hope to complete these tasks is:

 

Monday 9th July 2012

 

  1. Learn to drive.
  2. Get my ears pierced.
  3. Pass GDL.
  4. Get a new job that feels more “worthwhile” and pays better!
  5. Get something published.
  6. Save £2000.
  7. Have a professional skincare and makeup consultation.
  8. Have a set of photos taken where I really believe I look good.
  9. Read all the books on my “To Read” list.
  10. Learn html, css etc. properly.
  11. Write a novel.
  12. Be out of all debt apart from the student loan.
  13. Get at least 6 weeks (30 days) of legal work experience (0 / 30).
  14. Buy a Sunrise alarm clock and see if it helps me get out of bed in winter.
  15. Get the consultant referral I keep putting off sorted out.
  16. Be ruthless and get rid of stuff I’ll never use again / don’t need.
  17. Donate at least 30 good-condition items to charity shops / sales. (0 / 30)
  18. Go through my hoarde of craft supplies, sort and organise it all, and start using it up!
  19. Declutter my room so that absolutely everything now has a place and can be put away.
  20. Open an Etsy store and sell 10 items.
  21. Pare down my wardrobe and get rid of stuff I’ll never wear again.
  22. Learn to use my sewing machine.
  23. Learn simple knitting.
  24. Draw up a budget and stick to it.
  25. Go to the dentist.
  26. Get back to a weight I’m happy with.
  27. Eat 5 portions of fruit and veg a day.
  28. Drink at least 2 litres of water a day.
  29. Get a proper bra fitting.
  30. Create a “capsule wardrobe”.
  31. Do a detox.
  32. Have a professional beauty treatment.
  33. Get back in touch with people I’ve neglected through my own rubbishness.
  34. Learn to walk in heels.
  35. Visit people more, and invite them to visit me.
  36. Make an outfit, from scratch, that I really like and will wear often.
  37. Participate in NaNoWriMo and “win”.
  38. Start playing the piano again.
  39. Read at least two non-course-related books a month.
  40. Visit local museums.
  41. See an opera at a proper opera house, and dress up for the occasion.
  42. Listen to a band I’ve never listened to before each month.
  43. See the films that are supposed to be “modern classics” that people .are always shocked I haven’t seen.
  44. Start taking lunches to work / uni with me, instead of buying them.
  45. Learn to cook a variety of interesting vegetarian food.
  46. Host a dinner party.
  47. Bake bread.
  48. Visit 5 cities I’ve never visited before (0 / 5).
  49. Do a festival “properly” before I’m too old.
  50. Go on Oblivion at Alton Towers.
  51. Go camping and actually enjoy it.
  52. Overcome fear of spiders and other evil crawly things.
  53. Get an Alexander Technique Consultation.
  54. Eat vegan for a week.
  55. Take up yoga, pilates or something similar and do it on a regular basis.
  56. Take up a language.
  57. Buy a good camera and learn how to use all the manual settings.
  58. Do Project 365 (0 / 365).
  59. Refine my CV.
  60. Organise all important paperwork into a proper system including filing bank statements.
  61. Buy a shredder and get rid of old paperwork I don’t need to keep anymore.
  62. Frame and display my degree certificate (finally!).
  63. Spend a day pretentiously writing in a coffee shop.
  64. Post a secret to PostSecret.
  65. Visit a spa.
  66. Start using my gym ball daily for a month (0 /31).
  67. Get up early and do my hair and make-up properly every day for a week.
  68. Grow something without killing it!
  69. Be able to do 20 “proper” press-ups in a row.
  70. Do some really worthwhile voluntary work.
  71. Write 30 handwritten letters or postcards (0 / 30).
  72. Win a pub quiz.
  73. Go three months without buying any new clothes, accessories, shoes or makeup.
  74. Make at least £150 in a month on AQA.
  75. Find out for definite whether or not I can donate blood, and if I can, do so.
  76. Participate in a collaborative creative project.
  77. Get a professional manicure.
  78. Visit Paris by train.
  79. Take a drawing class.
  80. Meet 3 more “Internet” people in “Real Life”.
  81. Visit 5 museums (0 / 5).
  82. Spend one day a week totally offline for a month.
  83. Create a proper portfolio.
  84. Return all emails within 24 hours of receiving them for one month (0 / 31).
  85. Get all my paranoid medical niggles checked out (even if it means looking like a bit of a hypochondriac).
  86. Learn about wine.
  87. Blog at least three times a week (not including TiLT) for six weeks. (0 / 6)
  88. Bake someone a birthday cake.
  89. By day 1001, be living somewhere I truly enjoy being.
  90. Visit my parents at least three times a year just because I want to see them, not because I’m conveniently doing something else in the area that weekend.
  91. Rediscover the habit of making my bed every morning.
  92. Buy an external hard drive and get into the habit of regularly backing up my data.
  93. Watch the sun rise.
  94. Learn how to poach eggs properly.
  95. Cook dinner for my family (including parents).
  96. Try at least 10 foods I’ve never tried before (0 / 10)
  97. Try at least 10 hobbies / activities I’ve never tried before (0 / 10)
  98. Go back to Berlin.
  99. Obtain a piece of original art for the wall (bought by myself or received as a gift).
  100. Eat only raw foods for an entire day.
  101. Celebrate at least one birthday “properly”.
