Another crazy week it has been (I feel like I always open these posts with something of that nature) yet it’s Thursday again and time for some appreciation of the good things in life! I shall therefore try and resist scratching my healing sunburn and instead share with you the things that have made this week sparkle:
* Air Shows - They’re great fun if you’re a big nerd like me! Whilst all the other little girls wanted to be nurses or teachers, I always wanted to be a fighter pilot, and I think without physical limitations that would prevent me from doing so, I would have applied for an RAF sponsorship through University! For now however, I’m happy watching the displays and geeking. (Though at some point, after more important expenses are dealt with, I fully intend to have a flying lesson or two!)
* Charity at the Office- Office charity drives are great, they usually involve either large amounts of unhealthy food or dressing up ridiculously, two things I enjoy thoroughly! Yesterday we had a strawberry tea party in aid of Breast Cancer Care, and I enjoyed a strawberry cake slice, a scone with strawberries and Chantilly cream and a meringue with strawberries and fresh whipped cream. My waistline won’t thank me for it, but it’s for a good cause therefore my gluttony is excusable!
* Torchwood Week! – I love Doctor Who and it’s spin-off is bloody amazing too, I wasn’t sure how broadcasting the series back to back over five nights would work, but my totally impatient side is loving only having to wait a 23 hours for more!
* Writing – I have some fiction ideas I’m quite excited about, and I can’t wait until the weekend when I can sit down and write like crazy!
* Swapping Recipes- I’m a bit of a foodie, and as such, I love trying out new foods and recipes. I’ve been swapping recipes with colleagues and friends recently and have amassed a really nice collection of meal ideas for the weeks to come!
* The Meetup Getting Closer- Plans are coming together for the UK Lady Bloggers Meetup and it’s now only a couple of weeks away! I’m really excited to be meeting so many wonderful people, it’s going to be an amazing day! There’s still time to sign up to the network and join us!
* Developing a Workable Routine – I appear to be successful in this, finally! As much as I enjoy a good lie-in, I’ve realised that the more relaxed I am in the morning, the less tired and stressed I am throughout the day, so lazing around until the last minute then rushing around to get out of the door in time is out! Getting up early and waking up slowly is proving to be a much better way to start the day!
* Other- long conversations that put the world to rights, mechanical pencils, vegan chocolate beans, cheap coach travel, relaxing in the living room with a gin and tonic and my laptop, plans working out, quiet socialising, green tea, making more plans, taking photos, not caring that I have massive blonde roots right now, freshly-squeezed orange juice, eating lots of salads and taking time to relax.
What’s the glitter that’s making your week sparkle?

I’m terrible in the morning too but always feel so much better when I get up early so I have time to adjust to the day. It can be a struggle at weekends though.
Love mechanical pencils too but they do not like my habit of biting whatever I am writing with. Wooden pencils taste better:) but not as good as vegan chocolate beans!
Hasn’t Torchwood week been amazing (particularly day 2, hellow Capt Jack’s bottom!) … I don’t know what I’ll do with myself this week. I signed up for the UK Lady Blogger thingy so might check out coming along to the meet up
ps: just checked out the ning site.. have exact details for the meet up been decided upon?
Hey Kate, I’ve just forwarded you the email with all the meetup details and I’ll update the site itself when I get to work. I hadn’t realised the final details weren’t on there yet
